Problem Description

The Guided Project is closely linked to the research project equal.IT@THKöln funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space. In the research project we are working with teachers and students in their last two school years and students in their first year at university to understand their motivations to choose computer science or not as their study program.

Project Definition

Students participating in the Guided Project will work closely with the research project team at TH Köln. In the Guided Project students are expected to design, implement and execute actions and measures that may help to increase the percentage of female students in the computer science programs of TH Köln. These actions and measures might include programming and/or IoT workshops, events, hackathons, communication material among others.

Learning Outcome

Learning outcomes include:

  • Fostered project management experience
  • New insights about female aspects in computer science
  • Further experience with team work
  • Experience in the organization and facilitation of workshops and other measures
  • Teaching experience

Participation Requirements

A perfect project team would have experience with scripting languages and entry level programming approaches, workshop facilitation, as well as experience with user-centered design, graphics design and communication skills.
