Problem Description

The project aims to develop a cost-effective, high-quality chatbot that supports learning processes. RAG-based LLMs allow educators to integrate materials, such as scripts, lecture slides, and instructional videos, into a database accessible to LLMs. The central focus of the project is to explore whether widespread implementation and operation of such systems with minimal technical effort and expertise are possible, while ensuring these systems offer a high degree of reliability.

Project Definition

Universities are challenged to provide flexible, personalized learning and individual student support, areas where traditional methods often fall short. RAG-based LLMs enable educators to integrate learning content into a database accessible by LLMs, allowing for knowledge bases tailored to specific courses and objectives. The resulting chatbots deliver ‘first-level’ support, assisting students in learning at their own pace and accessing content with greater ease. The project aims to explore methods for implementing these systems with minimal technical effort and cost, assessing the practical applicability of a low-budget digital teaching assistant.

Learning Outcome

Ability to use a framework for an AI chatbot and to apply optimization techniques for such applications.
