Problem Description
The project Data strategy for ARNOLD UMFORMTECHNIK involves creating a comprehensive, long-term plan for how the company collects, manages, integrates, protects and uses data to achieve its business goals.
This will establish the structural, technical, and organisational prerequisites for reliably utilising data for decision-making, efficiency, innovation, and AI.
First steps:
- data inventory
- defining the data architecture
- data governance and security
Further steps:
- defining technical infrastructure (e.g. Data Lake, Cloud)
- optimise data quality and processing processes
Project Definition
In order to support the compagny in exploring the options for their data strategy, the following research questions will be adressed during the course of the project. Adjustments will be made depending on the progress of the work and in consultation during the semester:
- Which data is available in which formats and for what purposes?
- What must a data architecture be like in order to meet the needs of the company?
- What needs to be considered with regard to data governance and security?
The project is largely self-organised. A management team is formed for this purpose, which takes care of task allocation, literature research, documentation and time and project planning and is in close contact with the lecturers.
Learning Outcome
Students learn to explore a new domain in a team and to work on it independently in consultation with experts. In doing so, they design solutions and develop prototypes for the implementation of a specific use case in a business context.
Participation Requirements
Prerequisites for participation are the willingness to work in an interdisciplinary team and to familiarise with a new domain as well as contribution of own skills (e.g. special programming knowledge, organisation of data, research techniques, …) and the development of own creative ideas.
